Harold Ray Decker, 77, of Shelbyville, KY formerly of Louisville passed away peacefully at home Friday evening, December 2nd.
He was born March 12, 1934 to the late Estill and Delcie Decker.
Harold was a beloved husband and father and the best papaw in the world.
He had a long and successful career in the Home Improvement industry, beginning with the Nelson Company and Bruner Aluminum. In 1976 Harold opened his own company, The Aluminum Plant in Louisville, and later, Alco Building Products in Lexington, which he ran until his retirement in 1989.
An avid horseman, Harold owned and trained thoroughbreds throughout his life, and during his retirement he established a small breeding operation at High Point Farms in Shelbyville, KY.
Harold was a devoted husband to his wife of 57 years, the former Mary Frances Flaherty. He was a strong and honest man who will forever be remembered for his integrity and love of family.
He is survived by his wife, Mary, his children, Richard Lee Decker, Leah Denise Tracy, Cheryl Lynn Neelly, and David Keith Decker, His Grandchildren, Laura, Ryan, Derek, Mandi, Brooke, Molly, Brandy, David, Taylor, Kaden, Mary Addison, Kendall, Jake, Jaxon, Devon, Isabelle, and Devyn. He is also survived by his loving brother, Carl Decker.
A service celebrating Harold’s life will be held 11 a.m. Tuesday at Oldham County Funeral Home 706 W. Jefferson St. La Grange, KY
Visitation will be Monday, 4pm-8pm.
Our hearts are broken, but we take comfort knowing that Harold is now in heaven, along side his two children whose lives on Earth were too short He was born March 12, 1934 to the late Estill and Delcie Decker.
